Negotiations on universities’ collective agreement continued on Tuesday: family leave now under discussion

The negotiations on the collective agreement for approximately 34,000 university employees continued on 15 March.

On that day, the negotiators discussed leaves of absence and family leave. JUKO wants to achieve gender-neutral language in agreement texts and an equal amount of paid family leave for each parent. This goal corresponds to the legal reform entering into force on 1 August.

JUKO’s Head of Collective Bargaining, Katja Aho, stresses that the needs for caring for loved ones other than small children must be taken into account better than at present.

– This particularly applies to payment for both carer’s leave and temporary care leave.

The negotiations will continue on 18 March.
