University negotiations concerning working time continued on Thursday

The negotiations on the collective agreement for approximately 34,000 university employees continued on Thursday 10 March.

“We continued discussing the working time figure in the collective agreement, and evaluation of the gender effects of the agreement was also on the table,” says JUKO’s Head of Collective Bargaining Katja Aho.

Regarding other specialist staff, JUKO’s goal is for the provisions of the agreement to give better recognition to remote and multi-locational work and to work done while travelling.
JUKO stresses that remote work is a normal way of working, and that Covid has shown that it also works in a university setting.

When it comes to teaching and research staff, the goal is an agreement that would better support blended teaching. JUKO believes that the growth of teaching hours and the actual requirements for quality research must be taken into consideration in the collective agreement.

The negotiations will continue on 15 March.
